UAE National Orchestra Begins Rehearsals To Unite Emirati And International Musicians

The UAE National Orchestra has started rehearsals in Abu Dhabi, uniting Emirati and international musicians to create a sound that embodies the UAE's identity, diversity, and ambition. This initiative is under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and led by Chairperson Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi. The orchestra aims to be inclusive, accessible, and inspiring for all.

Following an extensive audition process that attracted over 3,200 applicants, 250 live auditions were conducted to select 70 full-time musicians and 30 part-time choir members. The inaugural season will feature performances across all seven Emirates, marking a historic first for the nation. These concerts aim to make music a shared national experience that connects communities and celebrates creativity.

The UAE National Orchestra plays a crucial role in advancing the cultural and creative industries while nurturing new artistic talent. It aligns with the Forward Society pillar of 'We the UAE 2031', promoting unity and a shared national identity through culture. As a platform for artistic excellence, it aims to strengthen the UAE’s cultural presence across all Emirates.

The orchestra also supports the National Strategy for the Cultural and Creative Industries by reinforcing arts' role in sustainable development and social cohesion. Through performances and collaborations, it seeks to inspire creativity, foster coexistence, and share the UAE’s cultural narrative globally.

Under Amine Kouider's artistic direction, the orchestra will blend Arabic and Western musical traditions to create a contemporary sound rooted in heritage. Kouider stated, "An orchestra unites musicians and audiences through a shared language of music. As rehearsals begin, we can already feel the energy and connection among the musicians, each bringing their own story, style, and emotions."

Sheikha Alia bint Khalid Al Qassimi expressed pride in this initiative: "The UAE National Orchestra is a reflection of who we are as a nation, proud of our roots, open to the world, and driven by a shared belief in creativity and collaboration." She emphasized how this new cultural story will connect people across every Emirate.
