UAE Ministry Collaborates With Siemens Energy To Advance Green Energy Initiatives

The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MoEI) has partnered with Siemens Energy to advance green and clean energy in the UAE. This collaboration aims to address future challenges in grid infrastructure, promote sustainable development, and explore technological opportunities for a reliable energy transition.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Sharif Al Olama, Undersecretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs at MoEI, and Khalid bin Hadi, Managing Director of Siemens Energy in the UAE. The signing took place during the World Utilities Congress hosted by TAQA.

Under the MoU, both parties will share knowledge through technical workshops and brainstorming sessions. They will present innovative solutions to challenges related to grid expansion and reliability. Additionally, they aim to enhance industrial development and explore synergies with local universities and research institutions regarding energy transition.

UAE and Siemens Drive Green Energy

The agreement also includes evaluating the current grid infrastructure to integrate renewable energy. It aims to factor in sustainable energy transition strategies and analyse the hydrogen value chain. This includes large-scale hydrogen production and storage, assessing its impact on the UAE's energy landscape and industrial economy.

Another key area of collaboration is honing youth skills and expertise in clean energy. The MoU seeks to involve young professionals in clean energy projects, providing them with valuable experience and knowledge.

Al Olama expressed his satisfaction with the partnership, stating, "We are pleased to partner with Siemens Energy to pave the way for a more sustainable energy sector. Such partnerships play a significant role in supporting the UAE's energy objectives and sustainable development."

Strategic Partnerships

He added that the ministry is keen on forging strategic partnerships with leading businesses like Siemens Energy. These partnerships aim to adopt innovative sustainability technologies that offer both economic and environmental benefits.

Khalid bin Hadi echoed this sentiment: "Together with the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, and supporting the UAE's bold vision, we will pursue our mutual goal of developing sustainable technology solutions to drive energy transition and combat climate change."

This collaboration between MoEI and Siemens Energy represents a significant step towards achieving a sustainable economy powered by clean energy. Their joint efforts will contribute to positioning the UAE as a hub for climate-friendly energy solutions.
