The Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted the third "Retreat of Resolve" for the Saudi-Emirati Coordination Council on 22–23 October in Abu Dhabi. This event focused on strategic projects and initiatives between Saudi Arabia and the UAE, covering areas of mutual interest. Key figures present included Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Omar Obaid Alhesan Alshamsi, and Rakan Tarabzoni, along with senior officials from both nations.

Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan expressed gratitude to President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud for their leadership. He emphasised that the cooperation between these two nations is crucial for regional stability and prosperity. He also thanked Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for his support of the Council, highlighting the strong relationship and shared vision between the countries.

Omar Obaid Alhesan Alshamsi remarked that the retreat symbolises the deep historic ties and growing strategic partnership between the UAE and Saudi Arabia. He noted that dialogue, cooperation, and integration are seen as essential for shared stability and prosperity by both leaderships. The retreat serves as a milestone in bilateral cooperation, offering a chance to strengthen existing partnerships across various sectors.

Rakan Tarabzoni highlighted that the retreat underscores both nations' commitment to advancing joint initiatives with clear frameworks for measurable outcomes. He stated that what unites Saudi Arabia and the UAE goes beyond institutional cooperation; it is a partnership rooted in destiny and a shared vision for a prosperous future.

Sheikh Shakhboot underscored that since its inception, the Saudi-Emirati Coordination Council has been an exemplary model of Arab cooperation. It enhances economic integration through shared solutions that optimise resources and build innovative systems focused on education, research, innovation, and future technologies. These efforts aim to prepare new generations to lead future development confidently.

The retreat featured thematic sessions discussing proposed initiatives by integration committees in key sectors like energy, industry, infrastructure, finance, investment, environment, supply-chain security, and human development. These discussions aimed at strengthening economic ties between the two countries.

Operational Frameworks and Governance

A session on governance was presented by Abdulaziz Talib Al Habsi and Razan bint Abdulraouf Naji. They addressed topics related to the operational frameworks of the Saudi-Emirati Coordination Council. This session was part of several thematic discussions held during the retreat.

Hesham Amiri delivered a presentation on the UAE's Zero Government Bureaucracy Programme during the retreat. He highlighted best practices in simplifying government procedures and enhancing service delivery by eliminating unnecessary requirements.

The Saudi-Emirati Coordination Council was established in May 2016 as an exceptional model of partnership at both Arab and regional levels. It implements strategic projects across multiple shared priority areas to strengthen integration across various sectors in service of both nations' aspirations for a prosperous future.
