UAE Ministry Of Culture And Philippines Sign MoU To Enhance Cultural Cooperation And Understanding

The UAE Ministry of Culture has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts of the Philippines. This agreement aims to strengthen cultural ties, cooperation, and mutual understanding between the two nations. By focusing on cultural dialogue, it seeks to preserve national identity and enhance bilateral relations across various sectors.

The MoU outlines provisions for exchanging cultural information and addressing shared interests. These include cultural studies, language, literature, arts, and heritage in both countries. It also promotes collaboration between archival institutions through training sessions, exhibitions, and sharing best practices in records management.

One key aspect of the MoU is its emphasis on protecting and repatriating cultural property, including cinematic heritage. The agreement highlights collaboration in supporting cultural industries such as linguistic, visual, auditory, and creative sectors. It also explores other areas of cooperation related to culture and arts as agreed upon by both parties.

The MoU encourages translation of books into Tagalog, English, Arabic, and other native languages. It also focuses on participating in exhibitions and activities related to culture, language, literature, and art. Cooperation in archaeology and heritage sites is another important component.

The agreement promotes intercultural events through performance groups, cinema, theatre, music, poetry readings, and folklore. It aims to boost cultural heritage in each other's languages while respecting laws and regulations of both countries. The MoU stresses avoiding publication of materials conflicting with societal values.

Sheikh Salem bin Khaled Al Qassimi stated: "The UAE shares strong ties with the Republic of the Philippines, built on decades of mutual understanding. Our countries are working together to strengthen our mutual ties reflecting our shared commitment to promoting human values and celebrating cultural diversity."

He further added: "This MoU strengthens cultural cooperation between the UAE and the Philippines on various levels. Embracing this diversity enhances bilateral relations and fosters positive interaction and mutual understanding." The focus is on arts, education, human values, and future visions for joint cultural work.

The MoU also calls for measures to protect intellectual property rights according to national legislation and international agreements binding both countries. This ensures respect for each other's laws while fostering a deeper understanding of each nation's culture.
