UAE Media Council Highlights Human-Centred Media Regulation At IGCF 2025 For Enhanced Quality Of Life

The UAE Media Council is set to participate in the 14th International Government Communication Forum (IGCF 2025). Organised by the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, this event will occur on 10-11 September at Expo Centre Sharjah. The theme for this year is "Communication for Quality of Life," featuring a programme with 22 interactive platforms.

The Council's involvement highlights its dedication to media policies that improve digital quality of life and promote a responsible media environment aligned with values. By showcasing its regulatory framework, including content standards and an age-classification policy, the Council aims to protect national values while fostering positive communication on digital platforms.

UAE Media Council at IGCF 2025: Focus on Quality Life

During the forum, the UAE Media Council will emphasise its Advertiser Permit, which regulates social media advertising by content creators through clear standards. This initiative supports meaningful content creation and enhances transparency in digital advertising. These measures aim to advance digital quality of life and position media as a partner in societal awareness and government communication.

Mohammed Saeed Al Shehi, Secretary-General of the UAE Media Council, stated, "IGCF has become a leading platform to engage with local and international partners and share best practice in communication and media. The UAE Media Council’s participation reflects our belief that quality of life begins with quality media regulation, and that building a responsible media environment is a direct investment in people and society."

At the forum's interactive pavilion, visitors can explore digital advertising standards and practical content guidelines. They can also register interest in the Advertiser Permit through an on-site explainer and interactive awareness activity. Prospective partners are encouraged to discuss collaboration opportunities with the Council team.

The Council plans to pursue cooperation agreements during the forum, with memorandums of understanding aimed at expanding creator training, standards literacy, and measurement across the ecosystem. This aligns with UAEMC’s mission to empower media as a tool for positive audience engagement.

Aligning with National Priorities

The forum will focus on five priorities: food security, public health, education, environmental sustainability, and the green economy. The UAE Media Council will highlight how transparent advertising rules improve public trust in health messages, support media literacy, and encourage storytelling that benefits daily life.

With a human-centred approach to innovation, UAEMC aligns with national AI guidelines to ensure emerging technologies in media are used responsibly. This approach protects families while preserving cultural values. The forum will gather global leaders to explore how strategic communication can enhance quality of life worldwide.

The IGCF 2025 aims to bring together experts from around the globe to discuss how strategic communication can advance quality of life. Through keynotes, panels, and workshops, it will showcase practical solutions and global experiences that strengthen communication between governments and communities.
