UAE Embassy Initiates Majlis In Hungary For Enhanced Cultural And Scientific Cooperation
The UAE Embassy in Budapest has inaugurated the UAE Majlis in Hungary, aimed at fostering cultural cooperation and scientific dialogue. This initiative also seeks to facilitate the exchange of views on various social issues. Saud Hamad Al Shamsi, UAE Ambassador to Hungary, stated, "Launching this platform in Hungary serves to enhance cultural and social ties between the two nations, and introduce Hungarians to the long-held customs and traditions of the UAE."
The initial session of the Majlis centred on artificial intelligence (AI). The discussion was moderated by Katalin Bogyay, President of the United Nations Association of Hungary and former President of UNESCO. Participants included Hungarian government officials, professors, researchers, students from various universities, and youth associations.

Attendees received an overview of the UAE’s experience and leadership in AI. The session highlighted what the UAE aims to achieve in this field, aligning with the visions of its leadership to develop top-tier services and enhance national competitiveness.
The event took place at the residence of Ambassador Al Shamsi in Budapest, which is also the former home of scientist John von Neumann. During this session, John von Neumann University introduced their Neumann H2 vehicle in Hungary. This vehicle operates on both hydrogen and solar power and was driven for the first time on public roads from the Majlis.
The Neumann H2 vehicle was previously announced at COP28, held at Expo City Dubai late last year. Partly manufactured in the UAE, it bears a quote from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum: "Innovation is a continuous journey with no time limit".
Future Plans for UAE Majlis
At the event's conclusion, Ambassador Al Shamsi expressed gratitude to participants for their contributions. He announced that future sessions of the Majlis would aim to bring together government and academic representatives from both nations. This initiative will continue to serve its noble purpose by fostering meaningful exchanges between the UAE and Hungary.
