UAE Unveils First AI-Powered Smart Mission In Seoul To Enhance Consular Services
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) has unveiled the first Smart Mission in Seoul, designed to offer comprehensive consular services 24/7 using advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI). This initiative was launched during President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan's visit to South Korea, aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation across various sectors.
The launch event saw the presence of Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade; Hong Seok-in, Ambassador and Deputy Minister for Public Diplomacy in South Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Khaled Abdullah Belhoul, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Faisal Lutfi, Assistant Undersecretary for Consular Affairs; and Abdullah Saif Al Nuaimi, UAE Ambassador to South Korea.
This Smart Mission aligns with the "UAE National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence" and the "UAE Strategy for Government Services". The primary objective is to streamline consular services through advanced technologies and AI solutions, aiming to reduce bureaucracy and enhance customer satisfaction.
To ensure seamless integration with other government entities, the initiative has been executed in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior. It is linked to supportive back-end systems that manage the services provided by the mission. Additionally, national companies have been engaged to deliver and continuously update the latest AI technologies.
Comprehensive Consular Services
The mission offers a full range of consular services, including document authentication, issuing return documents, Tawajudi registration, and addressing urgent concerns of UAE nationals. Moreover, UAE nationals can make enquiries and receive real-time responses via a hologram service available in Arabic, Korean, and English.
Statements from Officials
Abdullah Saif Al Nuaimi remarked, "Launching the Seoul Smart Consulate – as the first mission to utilise modern technology to provide consular services in the world – is regarded as a pioneering step in applying AI to serve our customers in a faster and more efficient way. This reflects the commitment of the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs to provide the latest technologies to facilitate procedures and enhance the customer experience in UAE missions around the world."
