This initiative aligns with the UAE’s vision of fostering a knowledge-based economy and solidifies its status as a global hub for AI technology development and application. Mohamed Saif Al Suwaidi, Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development and Chairman of ADEX's Exports Executive Committee, stated: "ADEX’s leadership of the AI for Development initiative reflects the UAE’s belief that artificial intelligence is a real force for advancing equitable growth and sustainable development."

Al Suwaidi further explained that integrating AI into key sectors opens new opportunities for inclusive development. He emphasised that this initiative aims to empower UAE enterprises to undertake pioneering projects that enhance economic cooperation between the UAE and African countries while supporting global sustainable development goals.

Al Suwaidi noted that this initiative builds on the humanitarian legacy of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. It reflects President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan's vision and commitment to supporting communities through significant development projects launched from the UAE globally.

Dr Tareq Ahmed Al Ameri, Chairman of the UAE Foreign Aid Agency, reiterated the UAE’s leading role in humanitarian efforts. He highlighted that leveraging AI tools can drive development in African nations. Addressing Key Challenges

Al Ameri stressed that many African countries need such transformative initiatives to address diverse needs in education, healthcare, and infrastructure. At a time when the UAE is establishing itself as a global centre for AI, it tops numerous international indicators reflecting its technological advancement across vital sectors.

The 'AI for Development' initiative focuses on African countries as part of the UAE’s broader foreign assistance strategy. Since 1971, over AED152 billion has been provided in aid to African nations. This new initiative continues this legacy by implementing AI-driven projects across Africa through cooperation with ADEX.

This significant effort underscores the UAE’s global standing as a leader in advanced technologies and smart systems. It aims to foster innovation, development, and modernisation at both regional and international levels while providing creative solutions for inclusive growth.
