Gulf Contracting & Landscaping Launches Major Plant Nursery In The UAE
Gulf Contracting & Landscaping (GCL), a subsidiary of Al Khayyat Investments (AKI), has launched one of the UAE's largest horticulture nurseries. This initiative aims to enhance local natural resources while serving customers across the UAE and GCC region. The expanded nursery, located in Al Rahba, Abu Dhabi, spans 1.25 million sqft and houses over a million plants suited to the local climate.
In addition to the Al Rahba site, GCL is expanding its nurseries throughout the UAE and GCC. A new facility, planned for completion in 2025, will cover more than 1.5 million sqft. This expansion aligns with the UAE's ongoing efforts to transform outdoor spaces and promote green developments.

The facility has seen significant growth since its inception in 2007. GCL has steadily acquired adjacent nurseries in Abu Dhabi and developed sites in other emirates. Currently, GCL nurseries host over 300 varieties of plants, shrubs, trees, and ground cover for both internal landscaping projects and external developments.
Commitment to Sustainability
"At GCL, we are committed to playing an integral role in making the UAE greener in line with the leadership's vision for enhancing quality of life," said Rami Hamad, CEO of GCL. "Moreover, we see great potential to provide local, sustainable solutions for such projects, using the latest engineering technologies to maximise efficiencies and preserve natural ecosystems."
The announcement coincides with the UAE's rapid transformation of outdoor spaces and advancement of green developments. Recent plans include the Dubai Quality of Life Strategy 2033, which aims to develop over 200 parks in Dubai alone. Additionally, the Abu Dhabi 2030 Urban Structure Framework Plan seeks to improve liveability for residents of the capital.
Diverse Expertise and Capabilities
GCL offers comprehensive expertise in various areas including site preparation, landscaping, infrastructure, civil works, aquatic works, design and fit out. This allows the company to create everything from manicured greens to strikingly designed public and private spaces.
The company's design and turnkey implementation capabilities extend to parks, streetscapes, public realms, residential community areas as well as golf courses, sports fields, and cycling and jogging tracks.
This strategic move by GCL not only supports local sustainability but also aligns with broader national goals for environmental enhancement. The expanded nursery will play a crucial role in supporting these initiatives by providing a diverse range of plant species suitable for various landscaping projects across the region.
