UAE Ministry Of Education Unveils Largest Art Competition For Public Schools To Celebrate Cultural Heritage
The Ministry of Education (MoE) has introduced a new competition for public schools called 'My School… My Identity'. This initiative encourages students and teachers to transform their schools into spaces that highlight Emirati cultural heritage. Sarah Al Amiri, Minister of Education, stated that the competition aims to empower participants to creatively design school decorations reflecting the UAE's rich cultural identity.
Al Amiri emphasised the ministry's dedication to enhancing educational outcomes through initiatives that inspire excellence. "We at the Ministry of Education are committed to advancing national education outcomes through initiatives and programmes designed to inspire excellence. This competition reflects our firm belief that education goes beyond the classroom and can come to life by employing creativity, innovation, and cultural expression. By empowering our students and educators, we are nurturing the future custodians of our heritage while also fostering vibrant, interactive learning environments that hone their skills and help unlock their full potential," she said.

Mohammed Al Qasim, Undersecretary of the MoE, highlighted how this competition will enhance public school students' quality of life. He noted that it strengthens teamwork and innovation among students and teachers as they collaboratively redesign their schools. The initiative aims to create engaging learning environments that motivate students towards future aspirations.
The competition criteria include embodying Emirati heritage in designs while aligning with educational goals. The accuracy, quality, creativity, innovation, and teamwork between students and teachers are key factors for evaluation. Additionally, technical, health, and safety requirements must be met for implementing artwork in school facilities.
A judging panel comprising experts from various entities, along with Emirati artists and specialists from the Ministry of Education, will evaluate entries. They will assess compliance with competition standards before selecting 10 winning schools. The MoE has allocated financial prizes for these winners: AED100,000 for first place; AED70,000 for second; AED50,000 for third; and AED25,000 each for fourth to tenth places.
Schools interested in participating can submit their entries between 20th January and 28th March 2025. This timeline provides ample opportunity for participants to develop creative designs that reflect their unique interpretations of Emirati culture within educational settings.
This initiative not only celebrates cultural heritage but also fosters a sense of identity among students while promoting collaborative efforts in school communities across the UAE.
