UAE And Korean Presidents Witness Exchange Of Key Agreements To Enhance Strategic Partnership
During a significant state visit to the UAE, President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and President Lee Jae-myung of South Korea witnessed the signing of several agreements. These agreements aim to enhance the Special Strategic Partnership between the two nations. The official ceremony took place at Qasr Al Watan, marking a pivotal moment in UAE-South Korea relations.
The first agreement involved a Strategic Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Framework. This was exchanged by His Excellency Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority, and His Excellency Bae Kyung-hoon, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Science and ICT of South Korea. This framework aims to foster collaboration in AI advancements.
Another key memorandum focused on artificial intelligence cooperation. It was also exchanged by Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak and Bae Kyung-hoon, highlighting the commitment to advancing AI technologies together. This partnership is expected to drive innovation in both countries.
In space exploration, a cooperation project was established between the UAE Space Agency (UAESA) and the Korea AeroSpace Administration (KASA). His Excellency Dr Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, UAE Minister of Sports and Chairman of UAESA, exchanged this agreement with Bae Kyung-hoon. This collaboration aims to enhance joint efforts in space research and technology.
A memorandum on comprehensive biohealth cooperation was signed by His Excellency Saeed Bin Mubarak Al Hajeri from the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Her Excellency Oh Yu-Kyoung, Minister of Food and Drug Safety of South Korea. This agreement seeks to improve healthcare collaboration between the two nations.
The administration and operation of the UAE-Korea Economic Cooperation Committee were formalised through another memorandum. Saeed Bin Mubarak Al Hajeri exchanged this with Kim Jung-kwan, Minister of Trade, Industry and Resources of South Korea. This committee will oversee economic initiatives between both countries.
Intellectual Property and Nuclear Energy Partnerships
An arrangement focusing on intellectual property cooperation was made between His Excellency Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri, UAE Minister of Economy and Tourism, and Kim Yong-sun, Minister of Intellectual Property of South Korea. This aims to protect innovations in both regions.
A significant partnership was also formed to strengthen nuclear energy collaboration. Mohamed Al Hammadi, Managing Director and CEO of ENEC, exchanged this agreement with Kim Dong-cheol, President and CEO of KEPCO. The partnership includes cooperation in artificial intelligence applications within nuclear energy sectors.
The series of agreements signed during this visit underscores a deepening relationship between the UAE and South Korea across various sectors including technology, space exploration, healthcare, economy, intellectual property, and nuclear energy.
