UAE-Kazakhstan Joint Committee Explores Cooperation In Artificial Intelligence, Space, And Energy Sectors
The UAE and Kazakhstan recently held the tenth session of their Joint Committee in Astana, co-chaired by Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, and Zhaslan Madiyev, Kazakhstan's Deputy Prime Minister. Discussions covered international cooperation, investment, finance, health, transport services, artificial intelligence, space, and energy. This meeting underscores the strong partnership between the two nations and their commitment to advancing shared interests.
Both countries praised the increasing momentum in their bilateral relations. Non-oil trade reached USD 5.6 billion in 2024, highlighting robust economic ties and growing mutual investments. The UAE delegation noted the official visit of His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Astana in May 2025. This visit reinforced both nations' dedication to expanding strategic cooperation and exploring new opportunities for sustainable economic growth.

During the meeting, Suhail Al Mazrouei emphasised the UAE's commitment to turning this vision into reality by strengthening ties with Kazakhstan. He stated that the UAE's strategy is rooted in sustainable partnerships, economic diversification, and achieving mutual prosperity for both nations. The session concluded with signing the minutes of the meeting, reaffirming their dedication to achieving joint priorities through concrete outcomes.
On the sidelines of the committee meeting, Al Mazrouei led a roundtable at the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC). Renat Bekturov, Governor of AIFC and Special Envoy of Kazakhstan's President for UAE projects, was present alongside various government and private-sector representatives from both countries. The roundtable highlighted monitoring project implementation and opening new cooperation avenues for small and medium-sized enterprises in key sectors.
Al Mazrouei also chaired political consultations between the two countries during his visit. Yermek Kosherbayev led the Kazakh side as they discussed bilateral relations and exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual concern. These discussions further solidified their partnership by addressing shared challenges and opportunities.
In addition to these meetings, Al Mazrouei held discussions with Nurlan Sauranbayev, Kazakhstan's Minister of Transport, and Yerlan Akinzhenov, Minister of Energy. They explored potential collaborations in transport logistics services, shipping corridors, and current and future energy projects between both countries. These talks aim to enhance cooperation in vital sectors contributing to stronger partnerships.
The Joint Committee meeting reflects a historic partnership between the UAE and Kazakhstan within an institutional framework ensuring tangible progress. Both sides are committed to strengthening cooperation in priority sectors that serve their shared interests sustainably.
