UAE President Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Discusses Cooperation With Kazakhstan's President Tokayev

President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan recently met with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan, who was visiting the UAE. The meeting, held at Qasr Al Shati in Abu Dhabi, focused on enhancing bilateral relations and exploring cooperation avenues for mutual benefit. Sheikh Mohamed welcomed President Tokayev and his delegation, expressing gratitude for their participation in Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week.

The discussions highlighted the significance of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week as a global platform for dialogue on sustainability. Both leaders acknowledged the importance of exchanging ideas and expertise to promote sustainable practices worldwide. They also discussed strengthening ties in various sectors such as renewable energy, trade, economy, investment, agriculture, and space exploration.

Sheikh Mohamed emphasised the robust relationship between the UAE and Kazakhstan, established in 1993. He reiterated the UAE's commitment to leveraging opportunities for collaboration across diverse fields. The shared commitment to multilateral international cooperation further strengthens their relationship. This is evident through their engagement with the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, where the UAE holds Dialogue Partner status.

Both leaders exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual concern. They underscored the importance of promoting peace and resolving conflicts through diplomatic means. Climate change was identified as a priority area requiring enhanced global cooperation to address shared challenges effectively.

President Tokayev expressed appreciation for the warm reception by Sheikh Mohamed. He reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s dedication to advancing ties with the UAE to support shared development goals. President Tokayev praised Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week for its role in raising global awareness on sustainability issues crucial for future generations.

The meeting was attended by several high-ranking officials from both countries. Notable attendees included His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister; H.H. Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi; Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure; Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology; among others.

Arrival and Reception

Earlier that day, President Tokayev arrived in the UAE and was received at the Presidential Airport in Abu Dhabi by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan along with other senior officials. This visit underscores the ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral relations between Kazakhstan and the UAE.

The meeting concluded with both leaders reaffirming their commitment to fostering stronger ties between their nations. They recognised that collaboration across various sectors would contribute significantly to achieving mutual development objectives while addressing global challenges like climate change.
