President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan recently met with His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein of Jordan. Their discussions centred on the strong ties between the UAE and Jordan, focusing on collaboration in areas that support sustainable development and stability. The meeting took place at Basman Palace in Amman, where King Abdullah warmly welcomed the UAE President and his delegation.

The leaders discussed ongoing cooperation in key sectors such as the economy, investment, sustainable development, food security, and renewable energy. They reaffirmed their commitment to exploring new opportunities for collaboration and building strategic economic partnerships that align with both nations' aspirations for progress.

During their talks, Sheikh Mohamed and King Abdullah addressed regional issues of mutual concern, including developments in Gaza and Lebanon. They emphasised the importance of achieving a ceasefire and ensuring civilian protection under international humanitarian law. Both leaders underscored the need to prevent further conflict escalation and work towards a just peace based on a two-state solution.

The UAE President praised Jordan's historical support for the Palestinian people and its efforts to address the humanitarian situation in Gaza. The leaders highlighted the significance of enhancing Arab cooperation amid current regional challenges.

A key highlight of the meeting was the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement signed during the visit. This agreement builds on the longstanding economic relations between the two countries, providing a foundation for expanding future opportunities. The agreement reflects their shared vision for sustainable development and prosperity.

The discussions also touched upon historical ties dating back to late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and late King Hussein bin Talal. These deep-rooted connections continue to influence current bilateral relations positively.

Representing Jordan were His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan, Deputy Prime Minister Ayman Safadi, along with other senior officials.

The leaders concluded by acknowledging their shared commitment to fostering stronger bilateral relations while addressing regional challenges collaboratively. Their discussions reinforced a mutual dedication to peace, stability, and economic growth in both nations.
