UAE And Japan Officials Discuss Political Diplomacy And International Cooperation In Second Session

Senior officials from the United Arab Emirates and Japan's Ministries of Foreign Affairs convened virtually on Tuesday. This marked the second session of their subcommittee on political diplomacy and international cooperation. The meeting is part of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Initiative announced in 2022. Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, and Ando Toshihide, Director-General of the Middle East and Africa Bureau, led the discussions.

Lana Nusseibeh highlighted the robust bilateral relationship between the two nations. Both parties reviewed significant progress made in recent years to enhance these ties further. They expressed optimism about the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) negotiations. The aim is to establish a successful, ambitious, and balanced economic partnership that will boost trade, investment, and cooperation in various sectors.

The meeting also addressed key regional issues such as conflicts in Gaza, Lebanon, and Sudan. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to promoting international peace and security. Discussions included improving civilian protection in conflict zones and delivering humanitarian aid effectively.
