UAE-India Defence Industry Forum Strengthens Strategic Partnership Through Collaboration And Innovation

The UAE-India Defence Industries Cooperation Forum recently took place in Abu Dhabi. Organised by the Emirates Defence Companies Council (EDCC) and the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM), it gathered experts and business leaders from both nations. The forum aimed to explore collaboration opportunities and future partnerships in the defence sector.

Senior officials from the UAE and India's Defence Ministries, along with representatives from the Indian Embassy, participated in the event. Discussions centred on enhancing cooperation and expanding partnerships in this crucial sector. Bilateral meetings were held to exchange expertise and identify future collaboration opportunities.

UAE-India Defence Forum Boosts Strategic Ties

Several memoranda of understanding (MoUs) were signed during the forum. These involved EDCC, SIDM, and EDGE Group, witnessed by key figures such as Muammar Abdulla Abushehab, CEO of Tawazun Council, Sunjay Sudhir, Indian Ambassador to the UAE, Hamad Al Marar, Managing Director and CEO of EDGE Group, Mona Ahmed Al Jaber, Chairwoman of EDCC, and Brig. Ashis Bhattacharyya, Principal Advisor of SIDM.

The MoUs aim to bolster cooperation in areas like defence industries and technology transfer. They also seek to identify future collaboration opportunities through joint meetings, seminars, conferences, and various events. This commitment aims to enhance mutual capabilities and drive technological innovation.

Muammar Abdulla Abushehab stated that the forum reflects strong bonds between the UAE and India across various fields. He highlighted that the defence industry is a key area of cooperation within their strategic relationship. "This partnership is an extension of the long-standing strategic relationship between the two countries," he said.

Abushehab further emphasised their role in empowering national industries to keep pace with global developments. He noted that supporting EDCC is vital for exploring international cooperation and exchanging expertise. This support aims to solidify the UAE's position in the global defence industry.

Strategic Partnerships

Mona Al Jaber expressed that the forum affirms the depth of strategic partnership between both countries in various sectors. She noted that it reflects their commitment to fostering bilateral economic relations and advancing industrial development. "The UAE-India Defence Industries cooperation Forum represents an excellent opportunity," she added.

Al Jaber stressed that EDCC and SIDM would continue efforts to enhance this partnership for mutual benefits. She hoped for tangible results from these partnerships that would boost innovation in defence industries.

A Milestone Achievement

Neeraj Gupta, Chairman of SIDM International & Export Committee, remarked on the significance of this MoU as a milestone in bilateral relations. "This MoU signifies a milestone in our bilateral relations," he stated. By collaborating with EDCC, they aim to elevate India-UAE defence partnerships through joint R&D initiatives and strategic investments.

The forum concluded with optimism for future collaborations between UAE and India in defence industries. Both nations are committed to strengthening ties through innovative projects that ensure robust supply chains for defence equipment.
