UAE Hosts Trilateral Talks With US And Russia On Ukraine Crisis In Abu Dhabi
President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met the heads of delegations taking part in US-Russia-Ukraine trilateral talks in Abu Dhabi, as the UAE hosts discussions aimed at encouraging dialogue and exploring political options to address the ongoing Ukraine crisis.
His Highness conveyed sincere hopes that the Abu Dhabi talks would achieve practical progress, help reduce tensions, and support efforts to end a conflict that has lasted for years. He underlined that the UAE views peaceful dialogue as essential for regional and international stability.
Sheikh Mohamed reaffirmed that the UAE maintains a steady foreign policy approach focused on constructive engagement and support for diplomatic initiatives. He stated that the country backs all efforts that seek negotiated outcomes to disputes and conflicts wherever they occur worldwide, including the current situation in Ukraine.
During the meeting, His Highness stressed that the UAE supports initiatives and endeavours aimed at achieving a peaceful settlement to the Ukraine crisis. He noted that such a settlement should take into account the interests of all parties and contribute to broader global peace and stability, reflecting shared international concerns.
The trilateral talks, which commenced in Abu Dhabi, bring together senior representatives from the United States, Russia, and Ukraine. The US side is represented by presidential envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, while both Russian and Ukrainian delegations include high-level security and defence officials engaged in the discussions.
Participants from Russia include Igor Kostyukov, Head of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces. Ukraine is represented by Kyrylo Budanov, Chief of Staff to the Ukrainian President, and Rustem Umerov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, alongside other senior officials.

The meeting in Abu Dhabi was also attended by H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi; H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes’ Affairs; and H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Adviser to the UAE President, was present, together with a number of ministers and senior UAE officials. Their attendance highlighted the UAE leadership’s close oversight of the trilateral process and its continuing role as host for dialogue on the Ukraine crisis.
