UAE Hosts BRICS Youth Dialogue In Brazil To Engage Students On Global Cooperation

The United Arab Emirates recently introduced its innovative 'Youth Dialogue' model to Brazil, marking a significant step in youth engagement. This initiative was part of the UAE's broader involvement in the BRICS Summit. The event took place at Rio de Janeiro's renowned Museum of Tomorrow, where 40 Brazilian university students from four institutions gathered. They engaged in discussions on international cooperation, sustainability, and the crucial role of youth in shaping global agendas.

Saeed Al Hajeri, Assistant Minister for Economic and Trade Affairs and UAE’s BRICS Sherpa, led the session alongside Saleh Al Suwaidi, UAE Ambassador to Brazil. Al Hajeri emphasised the importance of including young voices in multilateral cooperation. He stated, "This dialogue reflects the UAE’s deep belief that multilateral cooperation must embrace the voices, ideas, and ambitions of the next generation." He highlighted that youth are not just future leaders but essential partners in addressing today's challenges.

The dialogue underscored Brazil's significance as a partner for the UAE within and beyond the BRICS framework. Al Hajeri noted that enduring partnerships are built on trust and shared aspirations, not just trade and diplomacy. He remarked that open conversations like this one are foundational to such partnerships.

Al Hajeri also mentioned the Arab Youth Survey, which has consistently named the UAE as a preferred destination for Middle Eastern youth over the past decade. This preference is attributed to the safety, opportunities, and optimism fostered by the UAE. Through initiatives like this dialogue, the UAE aims to extend this spirit of possibility across the BRICS community.

The event highlighted how youth dialogues can foster international cooperation and sustainability discussions among young people. By engaging students from various universities, it aimed to inspire them to contribute actively to global issues.

This initiative reflects a broader strategy by the UAE to involve young people in shaping solutions for pressing global challenges. It demonstrates a commitment to fostering connections based on mutual trust and shared goals.

The session at Rio de Janeiro's Museum of Tomorrow was a testament to how open dialogues can bridge gaps between nations and generations. It showcased how youth engagement can play a pivotal role in influencing international agendas.
