UAE Transfers Leadership Of 115th Arab Economic And Social Council To Bahrain Amid Commitment To Joint Development

The United Arab Emirates has transferred the presidency of the preparatory meetings for the 115th session of the Arab Economic and Social Council to Bahrain. These meetings began at the General Secretariat of the Arab League, where the Social Committee gathered to draft the agenda concerning social matters for this session. The UAE delegation was led by Juma Mohammed Al Kait, Assistant Under-Secretary for Foreign Trade Affairs at the Ministry of Economy, along with other ministry officials.

Al Kait emphasised the UAE's steadfast dedication to supporting joint Arab initiatives across various sectors, including social projects. This aligns with the leadership's vision and directives. During its presidency of the 114th session, the UAE actively supported efforts to advance social progress, contributing to comprehensive and sustainable development in the region.

Al Kait highlighted pioneering initiatives that bring tangible benefits to Arab societies. He mentioned the Arab Reading Challenge as a significant cultural initiative promoting social development. He stressed that continuing joint efforts is crucial for implementing resolutions from the 114th session, which are essential for achieving shared economic and social goals.

The draft agenda for the Social Committee includes reviewing resolutions from the previous session and activities of the General Secretariat between sessions. It also addresses social aspects related to the economic and social dossier for the upcoming 34th regular session of the Arab League Council at summit level in Iraq.

In his speech, Al Kait formally handed over the presidency to Bahrain. He expressed hope for Bahrain's success in supporting Arab development efforts and enhancing work across various sectors within the Arab Economic and Social Council. This transition aims to promote prosperity among Arab nations and their people.
