UAE Secures First Place Globally In Telecom Infrastructure And Digital Government Framework

The UAE has achieved the highest global ranking in telecommunications infrastructure, digital government frameworks, and digital content, as per the "State of Digital Transformation Report." Released by the UAE’s Higher Committee for Government Digital Transformation during the Digital Readiness Retreat, this report highlights the nation's digital accomplishments across 12 sectors, including economy, health, and education.

Ohood bint Khalfan Al Roumi, Minister of State for Government Development and the Future in the UAE Government and Chair of the Committee, emphasised that digital readiness is key to the UAE's leadership vision. The goal is to reduce bureaucracy and improve life quality through technology. She stated that the report showcases significant digital achievements over the past year.

UAE Ranks First in Telecom and Digital Governance

The report indicates that the UAE leads globally in UN indices for telecommunications infrastructure and digital governance. It also ranks first in Oxford Insights' "Government AI Readiness Index 2024," third in government service delivery, and fourth in GovTech Maturity Index by the World Bank. Additionally, it holds 11th place in both IMD’s Digital Competitiveness Index and UN E-Government Development Index.

Digital transformation efforts have led to substantial efficiency improvements. Users saved AED368 billion while government costs were reduced by AED20 billion. This transformation also saved 530 million labour hours and cut carbon emissions by 55.8 million tonnes.

In 2024 alone, federal entities processed 173.7 million digital transactions. Federal websites received 131.5 million visits, and government apps were downloaded 26.3 million times. A total of 1,419 digital services are available now, with 195 classified as priority services. The satisfaction rate for these services reached 91 percent with over 57 million users benefiting.

The UAE Pass is a key component of digital government efforts with 10.8 million users accessing 15,000 services and supporting 2.6 billion integrated transactions. In economics, there were 5.2 million tax transactions completed digitally alongside numerous certificates of origin and trademark registrations.

Sector-Specific Digital Advancements

The finance sector saw significant activity with vendor registrations reaching 8,300 along with financial market employee accreditations and foreign investment fund renewals. Human resources processed millions of work permit applications and employment contracts while delivering training hours through "Jahiz" platform.

In healthcare, robotic pharmacies filled two million prescriptions while AI conducted one million chest X-rays. Remote medical consultations numbered at nearly half a million. Education delivered digital learning to over a million individuals alongside university course registrations.

Community Services and Infrastructure Developments

Community services addressed thousands of inquiries digitally while processing zakat transactions and fatwa requests online. Justice and security sectors handled millions of traffic fine payments along with vehicle registrations and criminal record certificate applications.

The identity sector managed millions of Emirates ID renewals alongside private sector residency permits and document attestations digitally. Infrastructure services completed housing assistance requests while issuing transport permits and nuclear activity licenses.

Cultural Contributions and Environmental Efforts

The environmental sector processed plant health certificates along with veterinary export certificates digitally while handling agricultural product clearances efficiently online too! Cultural initiatives included library memberships issuance alongside cultural artifact registration activities successfully undertaken digitally!

This comprehensive report underscores how deeply embedded technology has become within various facets across different sectors throughout UAE society today! It reflects ongoing commitment towards achieving national goals through continued innovation-driven approaches aimed at enhancing overall quality-of-life experiences nationwide effectively!
