UAE Enhances Global Leadership In Artificial Intelligence And High-Tech Innovation Through Strategic Investments

The UAE is enhancing its global position in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and advanced technology. This effort is part of its vision to become one of the most advanced nations in these sectors. The country has increased investments in AI and technology, aiming for a prosperous and sustainable future through global partnerships. Leaders from international companies have acknowledged this strategic direction.

Kiril Evtimov, Group Chief Technology Officer at G42 and CEO for Core42, highlighted the UAE's prominent role in AI development. He noted that the UAE stands alongside mature tech markets like the U.S., especially after Microsoft's $1.5 billion investment in G42. This investment underscores the UAE's capacity to drive AI advancements in sectors such as healthcare, education, and energy.

UAE Leads in AI and Technology Innovation

Jacob Chacko, Regional Director for the Middle East & Africa at HPE Aruba Networking, remarked on the UAE's leadership in using AI to foster development and innovation. He credited visionary leadership for integrating AI across crucial sectors, which enhances quality of life and boosts economic growth.

Ahmad Alkhallafi, Managing Director of Hewlett Packard Enterprise for the UAE and Africa, discussed the country's efforts to strengthen its global AI leadership. He attributed this to ambitious leadership and the UAE Strategy for Artificial Intelligence. Significant economic gains are expected by 2031 due to billions invested in AI.

The focus on AI investments extends beyond financial aspects. Alkhallafi emphasized developing local talent and supporting AI research as key priorities. These efforts aim to promote sustainability and growth by integrating AI into sectors like education, health, transport, and energy.

Hyther Nizam, President of Zoho for the Middle East and Africa, pointed out that harnessing AI's potential requires substantial investments and collaboration between public and private sectors. The UAE is actively pursuing these collaborations to drive growth in this promising field.

Commitment to Responsible Development

Evtimov also mentioned G42's dedication to safe and responsible AI development with societal benefits in mind. "With two new research centres launched in partnership with Microsoft and a collaboration with NVIDIA," he said, "we are tackling real-world challenges, positioning Abu Dhabi and the UAE as a global hub for AI innovation."

The UAE ranks third globally in attracting AI experts due to its focus on building a skilled workforce that drives digital transformation. G42 plays a significant role by providing comprehensive solutions from advanced data centres to sophisticated AI models for international clients.
