UAE Champions Global Dialogue On Food Security At Global Food Week In Abu Dhabi
Global Food Week commenced at ADNEC Abu Dhabi under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The event, running until 28th November, highlights Abu Dhabi's leadership in global food security discussions. It aims to enhance food security worldwide and unite international efforts. The week features four main events: the Global Food Security Summit, Abu Dhabi International Food Exhibition, Abu Dhabi Date Palm Exhibition, and Abu Dhabi Coffee Festival.
The summit, a key highlight, was inaugurated by Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak, Minister of Climate Change and Environment. Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy, emphasised the UAE's strategic vision for food security. He announced over 30 initiatives in collaboration with private sectors, research centres, academic institutions, and government entities focusing on R&D and value chain integration.

The summit gathers 21 ministers and officials to discuss sustainable solutions and international cooperation. They aim to strengthen efforts against hunger and improve global food security systems. More than 80 global experts will share insights on climate-smart agriculture, agri-tech innovations, and supply chain resilience to build sustainable food systems.
ADNEC Group organises the Global Food Security Summit with a commitment to reducing food waste during the event. This initiative aligns with their sustainability goals by implementing innovative measures to eliminate waste and establish new consumption standards. The Abu Dhabi International Food Exhibition 2024 features over 660 exhibitors from more than 70 countries. It showcases leading brands and advancements in food technology and sustainable industries. Discussions focus on global food systems, sustainable production methods, health-focused systems, and consumer trends towards wellness.
The Abu Dhabi Coffee Festival is a unique event organised by the UAE Specialty Coffee Association at ADNEC Abu Dhabi. It offers an immersive experience for coffee enthusiasts and professionals. The festival celebrates the UAE’s growing coffee culture through live competitions, interactive workshops, and a vibrant social atmosphere.
Date Palm Industry Advancements
The 10th Abu Dhabi Date Palm Exhibition collaborates with the Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation. It provides a platform for producers and experts from over 20 date-producing countries to showcase advancements in sustainable farming practices within the date palm industry.
The Hosted Buyer Programme connects suppliers with key buyers across sectors like aviation and hospitality during Abu Dhabi Date Palm Week. This programme creates significant business opportunities for participants involved in these sectors.
Empowering Future Leaders
University students lead sessions during Global Food Week to inspire future leaders in food security innovation. Academic institutions play a crucial role in empowering these young minds through discussions focused on innovative solutions for future challenges in food security.
On the sidelines of the event, the "Nutrition Label" initiative was launched by the Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council alongside the Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre. This front-of-pack labelling system helps consumers make informed choices about healthier foods.
