The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has solidified its status as a leading global competitor in 2025, excelling in numerous international and regional rankings. This success stems from the nation's comprehensive development strategy, effective governance, economic resilience, and high quality of life for its citizens and residents.
In the IMD World Competitiveness Report 2025, the UAE achieved a score of 96.09 out of 100, placing it among the top five globally. The country improved by two positions compared to 2024 and maintained its lead in the Arab region for the ninth year running. It ranked third worldwide in business efficiency, second in economic performance, and fourth in government efficiency.

The UAE's influence on the global soft power stage is evident as it ranked tenth in the 2025 Global Soft Power Index. Its national brand value rose to $1.223 trillion, ranking first globally in national brand performance. Additionally, it secured fourth place for future growth opportunities and sixth for overall brand strength.
Economically, the UAE continued to excel as an entrepreneurial hub. According to the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM), it maintained its position as the best environment for entrepreneurship for four consecutive years. The country ranked first worldwide in key indicators and was tenth globally in foreign direct investment inflows in 2024, attracting AED167.6 billion ($45.6 billion).
The UAE made significant strides in human development and gender balance. It advanced to 15th place globally on the 2025 United Nations Human Development Index, remaining the highest-ranked Arab nation. In gender equality, it achieved 13th place globally while maintaining regional leadership.
In health and well-being, the UAE topped the Global Health Inclusivity Index by excelling in awareness, community participation, and quality of life. It ranked second worldwide for universal healthcare coverage and was among the top five globally for people-centred healthcare systems.
Digital Transformation Leadership
The UAE's leadership in digital transformation was reaffirmed as it ranked first globally in telecommunications infrastructure and digital government frameworks. It also excelled in digital content creation, ranking third in government service delivery and fourth in digital transformation maturity.
Safety remains a hallmark of living in the UAE. In mid-2025, it was named the safest country worldwide with a safety score of 85.2 out of 100 according to Numbeo's global index. This recognition underscores its stability and security as an attractive destination for living and working.
Investment Hub Status
The UAE secured first place globally for new foreign direct investment (FDI) performance in 2025 and was second as one of the most attractive destinations for FDI projects. This confirms its role as a global hub for investment and innovation.
