UAE-Germany Business Council Launched To Enhance Economic Cooperation And Trade Opportunities

The UAE-Germany Business Council (GUBC) was officially launched in Berlin, witnessed by Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, and Katrin Eder, German Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Action. This event marked a significant step in the longstanding economic partnership between the two nations.

The council aims to foster new trade and investment opportunities while supporting sustainable development in a changing global landscape. This initiative reflects over five decades of collaboration between the UAE and Germany, highlighting their commitment to mutual growth.

UAE-Germany Business Council Launches for Economic Growth

Dr. Sultan Al Jaber emphasised the importance of this partnership, stating, "In line with the vision of our leadership to build high-impact partnerships that advance inclusive progress, we are committed to strengthening the deep-rooted relationship between the UAE and Germany and elevating it to new heights." The council is expected to empower private sectors and create cooperation across vital sectors.

Musabbeh Al Kaabi, Executive Director at ADNOC and Co-Chair of the Business Council, expressed confidence in the council's potential. He stated, "The UAE and Germany share a bold and future-focused vision for global progress. Driven by innovation and grounded in mutual interests, our partnership continues to evolve."

During the ceremony, Masdar signed a Memorandum of Understanding with EnBW – Energie Baden-Württemberg. This agreement aims to explore battery energy storage projects in Germany and the UK. Additionally, they will assess joint opportunities in offshore wind projects in the North Sea and Baltic Sea.

The official signing of the UAE-Germany Business Council charter was conducted by Musabbeh Al Kaabi for the UAE side and Günther Oettinger for Germany. This formalised their commitment to advancing shared goals through this council.

Future Prospects

The collaboration between Masdar and EnBW also extends to exploring green hydrogen technologies. These efforts underline both countries' dedication to renewable energy advancements. Such initiatives are crucial as they navigate a rapidly evolving economic environment.

This launch event brought together over 150 business leaders from both nations, underscoring their shared ambition for sustainable growth. The council is poised to accelerate collaboration across various sectors amid global challenges.
