UAE And France Commit To Strengthen AI Ecosystems Through Strategic MoU

The Abu Dhabi Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology Council (AIATC) and the French Ministry of Economy, Finance and Industrial and Digital Sovereignty have jointly signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on artificial intelligence (AI). This agreement strengthens the strategic partnership between the UAE and France, aiming to enhance the AI ecosystems of both nations through investment programmes and collaborations.

The MoU was signed by Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority, member of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, and member of AIATC, alongside Bruno Le Maire, French Minister of Economy, Finance and Industrial and Digital Sovereignty. This partnership underscores the commitment of both countries to advance AI responsibly.

UAE-France AI Strategic Partnership

The partnership will focus on several key areas to foster innovation and development in AI. These include data centre and supercomputing infrastructure buildout, investment in AI ecosystems, manufacturing and sourcing cooperation, and talent pipeline development.

Data Centre and Supercomputing Infrastructure

This initiative aims to provide cost-competitive AI training and inferencing capacity to French and European enterprises. It will also foster partnerships with international and local cloud and computing capacity operators to enable innovation and research and development (R&D).

Investment in AI Ecosystems

The UAE and France will explore investment opportunities in start-ups and investment funds focused on AI models. This includes applications in key sectors such as health, financial services, software, retail, and industry, as well as next-generation hardware.

Manufacturing and Sourcing Cooperation

The partnership will explore opportunities for bilateral production and offtake of semiconductors. This includes essential chips for AI applications, ensuring a steady supply chain for advanced technologies.

Talent Pipeline Development

An education initiative will be explored to offer top-tier AI training. This aims to nurture and develop talent across the UAE and French AI ecosystems, ensuring a skilled workforce for future advancements.

This collaboration between the UAE and France marks a significant step towards enhancing their respective AI capabilities. By focusing on infrastructure, investment, manufacturing, and education, both nations aim to lead in the responsible development of artificial intelligence.
