Laurent Saint-Martin, France's Delegate Minister for Foreign Trade and French Nationals Abroad, highlighted the UAE's significant role in France’s economic and trade strategy within the Gulf region. He underscored the strong bilateral ties, particularly in economic and diplomatic areas. Speaking to the Emirates News Agency (WAM) during the "Vision Golfe 2025" event in Paris, he praised the dynamic partnership between the UAE and France.

Minister Saint-Martin emphasised that the UAE is a priority for France among Gulf countries. He described it as a key regional and economic power, embodying a modern development model that aligns with France's vision of future international relations focused on innovation, sustainability, and openness. He noted that France aims to strengthen partnerships with nations sharing its strategic outlook and values, identifying the UAE as an ideal partner.

UAE Named Key Economic Partner by France

The minister highlighted that France has long-standing trade and investment relations with the UAE in the Gulf region. These ties are based on mutual trust, understanding, and respect rather than temporary alliances. "We have worked with the UAE for decades," he stated, expressing pride in French companies' achievements in the Emirati market.

He urged businesses from both countries to capitalise on current opportunities to enhance cooperation between Emirati and French firms. The focus should be on advanced technologies, artificial intelligence, and green transformation. "We must move beyond traditional cooperation toward productive, integrated partnerships," he said.

On diplomatic matters, Minister Saint-Martin described UAE-France relations as robust and enduring. These are supported by continuous dialogue and strategic coordination across various fronts, both bilaterally and internationally. He expressed confidence that these ties would continue to grow amid global challenges.

"We live in a fast-changing world," he concluded. "Global challenges require trusted partners who look forward. The UAE is undoubtedly one of the most prominent among them." This statement reflects his belief in the potential for further cooperation between both nations.

The minister also called for elevating cooperation to new levels in sectors like industry, renewable energy, digital economy, and innovation. "The UAE is undoubtedly a priority for France among Gulf nations," he reiterated. This highlights how both countries can benefit from shared goals in these areas.

Minister Saint-Martin stressed that current global economic shifts present real opportunities for expanding cooperation through innovation-driven partnerships of high quality. He encouraged more effective collaboration between companies from both countries to achieve this goal.

France views the UAE as a long-term strategic partner due to their shared values and strategic outlooks. This perspective reinforces their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations further amidst evolving global challenges.
