Global South Utilities (GSU), based in the UAE, has partnered with Egypt's AH Industrial Management, China's JA Solar, and Bahrain's Infinity Capital to establish a solar industrial complex. This $220 million (around AED810 million) project aims to create one of the largest renewable energy manufacturing hubs in the region. It highlights the UAE's leadership in promoting green energy across the Middle East and Africa.

The "Atum Solar Egypt" initiative will be located in Ain Sokhna (TEDA) and span 200,000 square metres. It will feature a 2 GW solar cells factory for exports and a 2 GW solar modules factory to cater to Egypt and Africa. The project is expected to support clean energy needs while fostering economic growth.

The development will take up to three years from construction to full operation. It is set to generate over 800 direct jobs and increase reliance on Egyptian materials like aluminium and glass. This reflects a commitment to localising production inputs and boosting the local economy.

Eng. Ali Alshimmari, CEO of Global South Utilities, stated, "This partnership reflects the UAE’s commitment to clean energy investments that drive economic development while empowering communities. Our project in Egypt is not only an industrial venture; it is an Arab-Asian collaboration that strengthens the Global South, localizes green technology and develops future-ready talent."

The agreement was signed by key figures including Ali Alshimmari from GSU, Cao Hui of Egypt-TEDA SEZone Development Company, and Ahmed Abou Hashima of AH Industrial Management. Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly witnessed the signing along with Deputy Prime Minister Kamel Al Wazir and Walid Gamal El-Din from the Suez Canal Economic Zone Authority.

This project underscores the UAE's role as a leader in renewable energy within the region. It aligns with its vision of fostering industrial and economic integration across Arab nations and Asia while supporting Egypt's Vision 2030 goals.

The collaboration between these companies represents a significant step towards enhancing renewable energy infrastructure in Egypt. By focusing on clean power solutions, they aim to contribute positively to environmental sustainability while driving regional economic growth.
