UAE Evacuates 188 Patients And Family Members From Gaza Amid Ongoing Humanitarian Crisis

The UAE, under the guidance of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, is offering medical care to 1,000 injured Palestinian children and 1,000 cancer patients from Gaza in its hospitals. In collaboration with the World Health Organisation (WHO), the UAE recently evacuated 101 injured individuals from Ramon airport in Israel via the Karam Abu Salam crossing. They were accompanied by 87 family members. To date, 2,630 patients and their families have reached the UAE for treatment.

Sultan Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Development and International Organisations and Vice Chairman of the UAE Aid Agency, highlighted the UAE's commitment to supporting Palestinians. He stated that this initiative by Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan underscores the UAE's solidarity with Gaza during these challenging times. "The initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE President, demonstrates the UAE’s long-standing support for the brotherly Palestinian people, and the country’s solidarity with the people of Gaza during the ongoing crisis," he said.

Al Shamsi emphasised that the UAE is dedicated to aiding Palestinians through various means. "During this critical time, the UAE will spare no effort to extend help to the Palestinians and launch initiatives for their aid whether by land, sea, or air," he noted. The country collaborates closely with international partners and the United Nations to ensure aid reaches those in need efficiently.

The UAE has been a leading supporter of Gaza since October 2023. It has provided over 40% of all aid delivered during this period. This includes medical evacuations that reflect its commitment to offering advanced healthcare services to injured Palestinians.

Since the crisis began, significant efforts have been made by the UAE to deliver healthcare through its field hospital in southern Gaza and a hospital ship at Al-Arish Port. "Since the outbreak of the crisis, the UAE has undertaken robust efforts to provide advanced healthcare to sick and severely injured Palestinians in the UAE field hospital in the southern Gaza Strip and the hospital ship anchored in Al-Arish Port," Al Shamsi added.

The relief response has been extensive, with more than 65,000 tonnes of supplies sent to support Palestinians amid ongoing challenges. This includes food, medical supplies, and other essential items aimed at alleviating suffering.

Commitment to Continued Support

Al Shamsi reiterated that all necessary measures would be taken by the UAE to assist Gazans during these difficult times. "H.E. Al Shamsi affirmed that the UAE will implement all measures to support the people of Gaza during these difficult circumstances," he stated.

The ongoing humanitarian efforts are a testament to the country's dedication to saving lives and providing relief where it is most needed. The focus remains on ensuring safe delivery of aid through all possible channels.
