The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MoEI) recently hosted a delegation from the International Energy Sector Leadership Programme. This event, organised by the Government Experience Exchange Office at the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs, highlighted the UAE's advancements in energy and sustainability. Eng. Ahmed Al Kaabi, Assistant Under-Secretary for Electricity, Water and Future Energy Sector at MoEI, discussed initiatives that have positioned the UAE as a leader in clean energy transition and climate neutrality goals for 2050.

Al Kaabi outlined several key strategies, including the UAE Energy Strategy 2050 and the National Hydrogen Strategy 2050. These initiatives are crucial in driving the country's commitment to clean energy. Additionally, participants learned about the National Water and Energy Demand-Side Management Programme. The UAE's efforts in low-carbon aviation fuel development were also highlighted, showcasing national policies aimed at advancing this sector.

Participants were informed about the UAE's active role in global energy discussions. The country participates in major international forums like UN Climate Change Conferences of the Parties (COPs), ICAO, and IATA. These engagements enhance its position as a hub for sustainable aviation fuel and bolster its aviation sector's competitiveness.

The visit included field tours where participants observed institutional coordination mechanisms in policy formulation. They explored innovative practices designed to improve national companies' efficiency and attract investments in renewable energy projects. Such efforts are vital for supporting sustainable economic growth within the UAE.

Al Kaabi stressed that these experience exchange initiatives empower governments globally by sharing pioneering practices developed by the UAE. They help other nations adopt innovative visions and proactive strategies by investing in executive leaders' skills through advanced programmes.

International Cooperation and Knowledge Sharing

"Hosting participants of the International Energy Sector Leadership Programme reflects the UAE’s commitment to supporting international dialogue and knowledge exchange," said Al Kaabi. "This contributes to driving sustainable development and gives fresh momentum to international cooperation in the fields of energy and sustainability." He noted that this visit was an important platform for sharing innovative energy policies, accelerating clean energy transitions, and strengthening international partnerships.

These initiatives underscore how sharing expertise can drive global progress towards sustainability goals while fostering international collaboration across various sectors.
