UAE And Egypt Leaders Convene In Cairo To Enhance Relations And Regional Peace

In a significant meeting held in Cairo on 23 March 2024, President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates and His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi of the Arab Republic of Egypt convened to deliberate on the robust relationship between their nations and explore avenues for further enhancement. This high-level dialogue underscored the strategic partnership that binds the UAE and Egypt across economic, development, and political spheres.

The discussions between the two leaders spanned a variety of regional and international topics of shared interest, with a particular focus on the Middle East's latest developments. A critical point of concern was the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip. Both leaders emphasized the importance of ensuring urgent, safe, and unhindered aid delivery and called for intensified efforts towards securing a durable ceasefire.

An Iftar hosted by President El-Sisi in honor of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed's visit marked the occasion, attended by prominent figures from both countries. The UAE delegation included H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan; Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan; Ali bin Hammad Al Shamsi; Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber; Mohamed Hassan Al Suwaidi; Jassem Mohammed Buatabh Al Zaabi; Mohamed Ali Al Shorafa Al Hammadi; Dr. Ahmed Mubarak Ali Al Mazrouei; Faisal Al Bannai; and Mariam Al Kaabi.

From Egypt's side, attendees comprised Prime Minister Dr Mostafa Madbouly; Chief of Egypt's General Intelligence Service Major General Abbas Kamel, among other high-ranking officials. The meeting not only served as a platform for discussing pivotal issues but also reinforced the unity and cooperative spirit between the UAE and Egypt.

The visit concluded with President El-Sisi escorting His Highness Sheikh Mohamed to the airport, marking an end to a significant diplomatic engagement aimed at fostering stronger ties between the UAE and Egypt.
