UAE Education Council Celebrates Academic Achievements, Sets Future Goals
H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the Education and Human Resources Council, led a council meeting via video conferencing. H.H. Sheikha Mariam bint Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairperson of the Salama bint Hamdan Al Nahyan Foundation and Vice President of the Council, was also present.
The agenda included approving the 2023-2024 academic year results and discussing plans to enhance student performance and education quality. The goal is to position the region as a hub for academic excellence.

Sheikh Abdullah congratulated students, parents, educators, and leaders on completing the academic year successfully. He praised outstanding students for their dedication and hard work. He also acknowledged parents' significant efforts in supporting these exceptional students.
He emphasised the ongoing journey of development and improvement in education. "Our journey of development and improvement is ongoing. We will continue to address the challenges we face to elevate the education sector to the highest standards," he said.
The council approved updates to the student performance assessment policy for 2024-2025. These updates were developed by the Emirates Schools Establishment based on lessons from previous years. The aim is to assess student performance in various ways and help teaching staff identify key areas for improvement.
During the meeting, Sarah Al Amiri, Minister of State for Public Education and Advanced Technology, presented a detailed analysis of examination violations and breaches. The council approved criteria for passing based on this analysis.
Role of Parents and Educators
H.H. Sheikha Maryam congratulated students, graduates, parents, and teachers on completing the academic year successfully. She praised students who made significant progress due to their efforts and highlighted parents' role in their children's success.
"I would like everyone to benefit from the experiences and challenges they faced during the year," she said. She encouraged developing clear plans for progress in the next academic year.
Summer Opportunities
Sheikha Maryam also mentioned that summer vacation offers opportunities for learners to develop values and skills further. "Summer vacation provides wonderful opportunities for our learners to further develop their values and skills," she added.
The council reviewed programmes implemented by the Emirates Schools Establishment aimed at improving student performance and enhancing education outcomes. These programmes focus on developing students, teachers, schools, and the government education system as a whole.
Ensuring Integrity in Evaluation
The criteria include holding a re-examination at the end of the academic year if needed. Results undergo reviews by specialised teams to ensure integrity and transparency in evaluation.
This approach provides parents with an accurate picture of their children's academic achievements, enabling them to monitor progress continuously.
