UAE And Ecuador Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation Through Economic Partnership And Energy Collaboration

UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Excellency Daniel Noboa held talks in Abu Dhabi, where the leaders reviewed UAE-Ecuador relations, confirmed the conclusion of Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement negotiations, and oversaw an energy memorandum of understanding that targeted trade, investment, and sustainable growth.

The discussions took place at Qasr Al Bahr during His Excellency Noboa’s working visit to the UAE and were attended by H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, several ministers, senior officials, and the accompanying Ecuadorian delegation.

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan stated that UAE-Ecuador relations extended back more than 50 years and had advanced in development sectors, while both leaders underlined their shared commitment to broaden cooperation in the economy, trade, renewable energy, investment, sustainability, food security, and other development-focused areas.

His Highness highlighted the UAE’s interest in deepening economic partnerships with Latin American countries, noting that the UAE had taken important strategic steps in recent years and continued to build links across the region to support shared prosperity and long-term economic opportunities for both sides.

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed and His Excellency Noboa witnessed the exchange of documents marking the conclusion of negotiations on a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, delivered by Her Excellency Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy and His Excellency Luis Alberto Jaramillo, aimed at enhancing bilateral trade and investment flows.

The leaders also observed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Abu Dhabi National Oil Company and Petroecuador, exchanged by His Excellency Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber and Her Excellency Inés María Manzano Díaz, which focused on cooperation in energy, environmental issues, and related technical fields.

UAE-Ecuador economic relations and global diplomatic dialogue

During the meeting, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Excellency Daniel Noboa exchanged views on regional and international developments of mutual concern, stressing the importance of dialogue and diplomacy to support peace, encourage stability, and promote secure conditions for economic activity worldwide.

His Excellency Noboa thanked His Highness for efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and reiterated Ecuador’s strong interest in enhancing cooperation with the UAE, especially in economic and investment areas, in a manner that served the mutual interests and wellbeing of both countries and their peoples.

The talks, agreements, and memorandums recorded during His Excellency Noboa’s visit positioned UAE-Ecuador relations on a broader economic and diplomatic footing, creating frameworks for future cooperation across trade, energy, sustainability, and food security, while aligning with the UAE’s wider engagement strategy with Latin American partners.
