Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, the UAE's Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, spearheaded a UAE delegation at pivotal regional industrial meetings in Doha, Qatar. These meetings, integral to fostering industrial and investment ties among Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states, included the GCC Industrial Cooperation Committee and the Ministerial Committee for Standardisation Affairs. Qatar, holding the presidency of the GCC Council, hosted these significant discussions.
The gatherings aimed at enhancing collaboration across various sectors were not just limited to ministerial dialogues but also involved preparatory sessions with undersecretaries from the trade and industry sectors. These preliminary discussions set the stage for a comprehensive review of trends, topics, and reports vital for the ministerial meetings.

At the heart of these meetings was the agenda to bolster cooperation in industry standards and metrology. The 52nd meeting of the GCC Industrial Cooperation Committee and the seventh meeting of the Ministerial Committee for Standardisation Affairs saw a thorough examination of several technical reports and strategic plans aimed at deepening ties between member states.
Dr. Al Jaber extended the UAE leadership's commitment to reinforcing GCC relations in investment and partnerships across crucial sectors. He lauded Qatar for facilitating important dialogues on collaboration, emphasizing that such meetings underscore the robust industrial relations essential for sustainable economic growth within the region.
The focus of the UAE’s Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology on leveraging advanced technology for national goals was highlighted by Dr. Al Jaber. In addition to industrial collaboration, standardisation and metrology were also on the agenda. The seventh meeting of the Ministerial Committee for Standardisation Affairs saw presentations on progress made by the GCC Standardisation Organisation (GSO) from September 2023 to March 2024. Discussions covered a range of topics from adopting technical regulations to updates on the GCC Accreditation Center (GAC), reflecting a comprehensive approach towards harmonising standards across member states.
The delegation accompanying Dr. Al Jaber included notable figures such as Omar Al Suwaidi, Under-Secretary of MoIAT, and Osama Amir Fadhel, Assistant Under-Secretary for the Industrial Accelerators Sector at MoIAT. Their participation underscores the UAE's proactive role in fostering regional economic cooperation and development through strategic partnerships and advanced technological integration.
