RAK Ruler Heads UAE Team At SCO Summit In Kazakhstan For Sustainable Development
On behalf of UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, arrived in Astana, Kazakhstan. He is leading the UAE delegation to the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit.
The summit, hosted by Kazakhstan from 3rd to 4th July, focuses on "Strengthening multilateral dialogue - the pursuit of sustainable peace and development." Heads of state and government from member states, along with representatives from regional and international organisations, are attending.
The UAE's participation follows its official recognition as a "Dialogue Partner" in the SCO during last year's meetings in India. This status allows the UAE to engage more deeply with member states on various issues.
H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi is accompanied by a high-level delegation. This includes Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure; Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy; Ahmed bin Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of State; and several other officials.
Upon arrival at Astana International Airport, H.H. was greeted by Zhaslan Madiyev, the new Minister of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry; Mohamed Saeed Alariqi, UAE Ambassador to Kazakhstan; and several government officials.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation was established on June 15, 2001. It is a permanent intergovernmental international organisation aimed at enhancing mutual trust and friendship among member states.
SCO's Objectives
The organisation encourages effective cooperation in politics, trade, economy, science and technology, culture, education, energy, transport, tourism, environmental protection among others. It also aims to ensure peace, security and stability in the region collectively.
The summit provides a platform for discussing these objectives and exploring ways to strengthen multilateral dialogue for sustainable peace and development.
This event marks an important step for the UAE as it continues to build stronger ties within the SCO framework. The participation underscores its commitment to regional cooperation and development.
