UAE And Cyprus Presidents Forge Stronger Ties For Economic Growth And Regional Peace
President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Excellency Nikos Christodoulides, President of the Republic of Cyprus, recently held discussions in Abu Dhabi. They explored ways to enhance bilateral cooperation, particularly in economic and developmental sectors, to serve mutual interests.
During their meeting, both leaders reviewed UAE-Cyprus relations and joint efforts to advance ties. They focused on areas such as economy, trade, investment, and energy. The goal is to benefit the peoples of both nations through strengthened strategic relations.
The UAE President expressed his best wishes for a constructive visit by the Cypriot President. He conveyed confidence that this visit would bolster cooperation across multiple levels between the two countries.
The leaders also exchanged views on various regional and international issues of common interest. They emphasised the importance of de-escalating tensions in the Middle East to avoid further instability. Both stressed the need for dialogue and diplomatic solutions to resolve global conflicts.
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan appreciated Cyprus' efforts in facilitating humanitarian aid to Gaza. He highlighted the significance of the Amalthea maritime corridor initiative in delivering aid effectively.
Humanitarian Efforts in Gaza
Both leaders discussed cooperation in delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza through the Amalthea maritime corridor initiative. They underscored the necessity of an immediate ceasefire in Gaza to ensure adequate and sustainable humanitarian support.
In this context, His Highness reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to working with Cyprus and other partners. This collaboration aims to provide unimpeded humanitarian assistance to Gaza's residents.
The meeting was attended by several key figures from both nations. These included H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs; H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs; and Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation.
