UAE Reaffirms Commitment To Women's Empowerment At La Francophonie Conference In Kigali

The United Arab Emirates took part in the 46th Ministerial Conference of La Francophonie, which began on 19th November in Kigali, Rwanda. This year's theme was 'Thirty Years After the Beijing Conference: The Role of Women in the Francophone Space'. Dr. Salem Al Neyadi, UAE Representative to the International Organisation of La Francophonie, led the UAE delegation.

During his opening remarks, Dr. Al Neyadi emphasised that the UAE's involvement underscores its unwavering dedication to women's empowerment and their role as vital partners in development. This commitment is evident both locally and internationally. He highlighted the progress made by the UAE in promoting women's empowerment across various sectors, driven by the country's visionary leadership.

UAE Commits to Women's Empowerment in Kigali

Dr. Al Neyadi also stated that the UAE is devoted to enhancing cooperation with La Francophonie member states and globally. The aim is to share best practices and expertise while supporting initiatives focused on empowering women. He noted that this aligns with national policies prioritising women's empowerment within the UAE's development agenda.

The UAE remains committed to engaging actively in international efforts dedicated to advancing women's roles and empowerment. This aligns with national strategies that place a strong emphasis on women's participation in development processes. Dr. Al Neyadi reiterated this commitment during his address at the conference.

Since joining La Francophonie in 2010, the UAE has been an active participant in its meetings. The International Organisation of La Francophonie is recognised as the second-largest international body after the United Nations, consisting of 90 member states and governments.

The conference provided a platform for member states to discuss and exchange ideas on enhancing women's roles within their societies. The UAE's participation reflects its ongoing efforts to support global initiatives aimed at empowering women and fostering gender equality.
