UAE And China Leaders Explore New Avenues For Strengthening Strategic Partnership

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, recently met with Li Qiang, Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China. The leaders discussed the growing strategic partnership between the UAE and China and explored new avenues to expand ties.

The meeting took place at Za’abeel Palace in Dubai and highlighted the steady growth of UAE-China relations under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Chinese President Xi Jinping. Discussions spanned political, economic, commercial, and cultural issues, with both leaders emphasising the need to deepen cooperation to serve mutual interests.

They commended the growth in economic ties, noting that the UAE is China's largest Arab trading partner while China is the UAE's top partner. In 2023, non-oil trade between the two countries reached approximately AED296 billion. This robust trade relationship underscores their mutual commitment to economic collaboration.

The meeting also highlighted how President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan's historic visit to Beijing in May resulted in several agreements that provided a strong impetus to bilateral relations. These agreements have significantly boosted cooperation across various sectors.

Both sides explored new investment opportunities and ways to enhance collaboration between their private sectors. They noted that the UAE’s robust infrastructure, flexible regulations, and secure environment offer strong support for investors, creating ideal conditions for business success and growth.

The discussions also touched on the UAE's crucial role in the global economy and its participation in the Belt and Road Initiative. The country’s strategic location, world-class ports, exceptional logistics capabilities, and advanced infrastructure enable it to contribute significantly to this initiative.

His Highness stressed enhancing cooperation in trade, tourism, renewable energy, technology, education, and culture to serve both nations' interests.

The meeting was attended by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai; H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai; along with several ministers and senior officials.

The discussions underscored how UAE-China ties have grown steadily under their respective leaders' guidance. Both sides reiterated their commitment to deepening cooperation across various fields to achieve mutual aspirations.
