UAE And Brazil Celebrate 50 Years Of Diplomacy With Future-Focused Talks
President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan recently received a written message from President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva of Brazil. The message, which focused on bilateral relations, was delivered to H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan by Mauro Vieira, the Brazilian Minister of Foreign Affairs, during a meeting in Abu Dhabi.
During their discussion, Sheikh Abdullah and Vieira addressed several mutual interests. This year marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the UAE and Brazil, established in June 1974. Sheikh Abdullah praised the strong ties between the two nations and their commitment to enhancing cooperation in various sectors such as economic, commercial, cultural, investment, development, and climate.
The meeting also highlighted Brazil's presidency of the G20 under the theme "Building a Just World and a Sustainable Planet." Sheikh Abdullah emphasised the UAE's eagerness to actively participate in the G20 and support Brazil's priorities. These priorities include combating hunger and poverty, promoting sustainable development, facilitating energy transformations, and improving global governance.
In addition to these topics, the ministers exchanged views on regional and international developments. This exchange aimed to align their perspectives on various global issues.
Sheikh Abdullah welcomed Vieira's visit and commended the robust bilateral relations between the UAE and Brazil. He noted that both countries are committed to strengthening ties across all fields.
Following their meeting, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah hosted a dinner banquet in honour of Mauro Vieira and his delegation. This gesture further solidified the friendly relations between the two nations.
The meeting was attended by several notable figures from the UAE. These included Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemy, Minister of State for International Cooperation; Ahmed Al Sayegh, Minister of State; Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs; and Saeed Mubarak Al Hajeri, Assistant Foreign Minister for Economic and Trade Affairs.
This engagement underscores the UAE's dedication to fostering strong international partnerships. The discussions held during this meeting reflect a shared vision for future collaboration between the UAE and Brazil.
