UAE-Azerbaijan Bilateral Relations Deepen Under Comprehensive Strategic Partnership

UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met His Excellency Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, to review how bilateral relations could be strengthened under the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, with a focus on cooperation supporting shared development goals for both countries.

Both leaders highlighted priority fields for deeper collaboration, including development, economic ties, investments, food security, renewable energy, sustainability, and other key sectors. They agreed these areas support long-term national strategies and reflect shared interests between the UAE and Azerbaijan.

The discussions underlined that the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, signed in July 2025, has marked a major advance in UAE-Azerbaijan economic relations. The two sides noted that this agreement is expected to deliver significant outcomes for trade, investment, and broader economic integration between the two markets.

The meeting took place during His Excellency Aliyev’s visit to the UAE, where His Excellency Aliyev attended the opening of Games of the Future Abu Dhabi 2025. The leaders also exchanged views on regional and international developments of mutual concern, reflecting a shared interest in stability and dialogue.

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed hosted a luncheon in honour of His Excellency Aliyev, providing an additional setting for discussion. The event reflected the importance placed on UAE-Azerbaijan ties at the highest level and supported ongoing engagement between senior officials from both sides.

The meeting was attended by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court; Lieutenant General His Highness Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior; several Sheikhs; and senior officials.

Earlier, His Excellency Aliyev arrived in Abu Dhabi and was received at the Presidential Flight by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in his capacity as Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court. His Highness welcomed His Excellency Aliyev and affirmed the depth and continued development of relations between the UAE and Azerbaijan, reflecting the keenness of both countries’ leaderships to further strengthen cooperation.
