Autoimmune Awareness Initiative In UAE: Zayed Authority And Autoimmune Society Sign MoU To Improve Community Health
Zayed Authority for People of Determination has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Autoimmune Society to cooperate on public health awareness, especially around autoimmune conditions. The agreement supports the UAE vision to advance public health, empower all community groups, and improve quality of life through inclusive, knowledge-based programmes and partnerships.
The MoU sets a framework for joint work on awareness, cultural and media initiatives that explain autoimmune diseases in clear, accessible ways. It also includes organising seminars, workshops and public campaigns, supported by educational content that highlights coexistence, prevention and early detection, while avoiding negative or stigmatising language wherever possible.

Both organisations plan to reach diverse groups, including youth, women, families, and students in schools and universities. The cooperation encourages these groups to join volunteer activities and structured community initiatives inside the UAE. The MoU also covers sharing knowledge, specialist expertise and available resources to raise the overall impact of joint health awareness programmes.
Abdullah Abdulali Al Humaidan, Director-General of Zayed Authority for People of Determination, stated that the memorandum confirms the Authority’s role in backing initiatives that increase health awareness and support empowerment and quality of life. Al Humaidan highlighted that strategic partnerships of this kind help create a society that better understands health challenges and supports inclusion and long-term social sustainability.
Dr. Eman Khalid Al Hashemi, Founder and Chairperson of the Autoimmune Society, explained that the agreement with Zayed Authority for People of Determination shows a shared commitment to humanity, empowerment and integrated institutional work. Dr. Eman described the MoU as a key step for improving quality of life, exchanging expertise and building sustainable health and community initiatives based on knowledge, inclusion and cross-sector cooperation.
