UAE AI Award Launches Its Second Edition For 2025 To Enhance Innovation In Artificial Intelligence
The UAE Council for Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain has introduced the second edition of the UAE Artificial Intelligence Award. This initiative underscores the country's dedication to fostering innovation and excellence in AI across various sectors. The award seeks to boost competitiveness among government and private entities by recognising exceptional efforts in AI adoption, further establishing the UAE as a global leader in innovation and smart governance.
Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, highlighted the UAE's commitment to implementing directives from President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. These directives aim to enhance the UAE’s global digital leadership through innovative AI solutions that drive government service advancements.

The award encourages federal, local, semi-government entities, academic institutions, private organisations, and individuals to adopt innovative AI solutions. This initiative aims to shape a future built on digital transformation by establishing AI as a key growth driver. It seeks to reshape work nature, unlock opportunities for empowerment and integration, and foster collaboration among various entities.
The categories of the award include Excellence in AI-powered Services, AI Solutions Developed in the UAE, Best Government-Private Partnership in AI, AI Leader, and AI Scientific Research. Submissions will be assessed based on innovation level, ethics compliance, maturity level of AI applications, scalability, adaptability, and potential impact.
The "Excellence in AI-powered Services" category focuses on solutions that improve service quality using AI. These solutions enable better data-driven decision-making, enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and streamline processes. Meanwhile, "AI Solutions Developed in the UAE" highlights solutions reflecting Emirati identity in concept and implementation.
The "Best Government-Private Partnership in AI" category acknowledges successful collaborations between government entities and private companies. These partnerships develop AI-based solutions that accelerate innovation and improve service quality while delivering tangible community benefits supporting government objectives.
Honouring Leaders and Researchers
The "AI Leader" category celebrates government professionals who champion innovative AI solutions. These leaders enhance service delivery and decision-making while building team capabilities and raising awareness to achieve measurable results that improve government performance.
In contrast, the "AI Scientific Research" category recognises outstanding contributions to AI research that significantly advance theoretical understanding or practical applications of artificial intelligence.

Winners from the inaugural edition included the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Advanced Technology Research Council, Abu Dhabi Mobility, and DP World. They were honoured by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum during the UAE Government Annual Meetings 2024.
