Turkish Technic Partners With Rolls-Royce To Establish Engine Maintenance Centre
In a landmark move for the aviation industry, Turkish Technic has partnered with Rolls-Royce to develop a cutting-edge engine maintenance centre at Istanbul Airport. This collaboration marks Turkish Technic's entry into the Rolls-Royce MRO Network, significantly enhancing its operational capabilities and positioning it as a leader in the maintenance sector.
The initiative not only bolsters Turkish Technic's standing but also strengthens Türkiye's status as a key player in the global aviation services sector, leveraging its strategic geographical location that bridges continents and cultures.
Rob Watson, President – Civil Aerospace, Rolls-Royce, stated, "We're significantly increasing our global MRO capacity by 2030, and today's announcement marks an important milestone on that journey, as we add Turkish Technic to our global network of capable, flexible and resilient MRO providers to support our TotalCare customers around the world. It reinforces our strong partnership with Turkish Airlines — whose fleet of Airbus A350s will be supported by this facility – and shows confidence in Turkish Technic's ability to realise their ambition to become a world-class provider of civil large aeroengine MRO."

Scheduled for completion by the end of 2027, the maintenance centre will specialize in servicing Trent XWB-97, Trent XWB-84, and Trent 7000 engines. These engines are integral to the operations of Airbus A350 and Airbus A330neo aircraft. The facility aims to handle approximately 200 shop visits annually, making it one of the largest of its kind in the region.
This development is expected to significantly enhance Turkish Technic’s engine maintenance and overhaul services, demonstrating its commitment to excellence in the aviation sector. Moreover, it will contribute to the growth of a skilled workforce and the development of local supply chains and engineering talent in Türkiye.
Prof. Ahmet Bolat, Turkish Technic Chairman of the Board and the Executive Committee, shared his excitement about the collaboration, stating, "We are thrilled to partner with one of the world's leading engine manufacturers. Rolls-Royce's expertise will be instrumental in enhancing our engine maintenance operations. With our new facility expansion, we will be equipped to perform comprehensive maintenance services across a wide range of Trent engine models, allowing us to meet the evolving needs of the industry."
This agreement not only signifies a significant enhancement of Turkish Technic's service offerings but also underpins the broader ambitions for innovation and sustainability within the aviation sector. It echoes Rolls-Royce's commitment to Türkiye, cementing a strategic partnership that promises to advance the aviation industry.
Watson further noted, "In April 2024, Rolls-Royce reaffirmed its commitment to Türkiye, which explored the implementation of several industrial initiatives, today's agreement is a demonstration of that. We are delighted to welcome Turkish Technic into our expanding network of Trent engine maintenance centres."
The initiative between Turkish Technic and Rolls-Royce serves as a testament to the growing economic collaboration and strategic partnership between Türkiye and the United Kingdom. It not only enhances Turkish Technic’s operational capabilities but also contributes to the burgeoning aviation sector in Türkiye, promising economic growth, innovation, and job creation in the region.
