TRENDS Research And Ministry Of Climate Change Sign MoU To Enhance Food Security In The UAE

The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment in the UAE has partnered with TRENDS Research and Advisory to enhance sustainable development and bolster food security. This collaboration involves conducting comprehensive surveys and field studies across the UAE over three to four months. The agreement was formalised during the Abu Dhabi Global Food Security Week at ADNEC Centre, attended by Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak, Minister of Climate Change and Environment.

Mohammed Saeed Al-Nuaimi, Undersecretary of the Ministry, and Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali, CEO of TRENDS, signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Al-Nuaimi stated that this partnership underscores the Ministry's dedication to overcoming challenges in achieving sustainable food security in the UAE. He emphasised the importance of leveraging advanced technologies and data to transform food systems into sustainable models.

MoU Signed for UAE Food Security Initiatives

The MoU aligns with the objectives of the National Food Security Strategy 2051, particularly in enhancing agricultural productivity. Al-Nuaimi noted that collaborations with federal, local, and private sectors are crucial for increasing local production of key crops. "Through partnerships with TRENDS and other stakeholders in the UAE and globally, we will be better equipped to meet our goals and ensure a secure food future for the country," he stated.

Dr. Al-Ali highlighted that these efforts aim to achieve sustainable development goals by supporting food security through detailed field studies and surveys. These initiatives will yield essential data critical for understanding current food security conditions and challenges within the UAE.

The collaboration involves conducting various field surveys to identify obstacles in agriculture and food production. These surveys will also explore consumer behaviour through opinion polls, providing insights into Emirati consumers' habits regarding sustainability and nutrition. The findings will inform policies that address community needs while advancing sustainable development goals.

This strategic partnership between TRENDS Research and Advisory and the Ministry is a significant step towards ensuring a secure food future for the UAE. By focusing on data-driven approaches, they aim to transform agricultural systems sustainably while meeting national objectives.
