UAE's Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Launches Initiative For Tolerance And Coexistence Using Artificial Intelligence

The "Tolerance and Coexistence in the Age of Artificial Intelligence" initiative was launched by Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence. This initiative aligns with the UAE's leadership vision to leverage current opportunities and future expectations, ensuring the nation contributes meaningfully to global progress. The announcement was made at a press conference attended by Afra Al Sabri, Director-General of the Ministry, and several media leaders.

Sheikh Nahyan highlighted that artificial intelligence (AI) is pivotal in shaping global life. He stated, "This initiative represents the Ministry’s contribution to strengthening the UAE’s leading position in the field of artificial intelligence." The goal is to promote tolerance and coexistence at individual, community, national, and global levels.

At the community level, AI will improve institutional efficiency. It will enable members to learn together, share ideas, and implement joint initiatives that benefit society and the environment. This collaborative approach aims to foster tolerance and coexistence within local communities.

On a national scale, AI technologies will highlight the link between tolerance and economic development. They will also strengthen ties with expatriate communities and various institutions. This includes fostering partnerships that benefit all stakeholders involved.

Globally, AI will allow the UAE to showcase its model of tolerance and human fraternity. It will facilitate building effective international relations through cooperation across borders. This approach aims to introduce the UAE's pioneering model worldwide.

The Ministry plans to develop twelve AI applications addressing various areas of its work. These applications aim to support continuous learning, inspire innovation in tolerance, celebrate culture and heritage, deepen global connections, facilitate communication, and build advanced data systems for analysis.

Guiding Principles for Ethical AI Use

Sheikh Nahyan emphasised several principles guiding AI use within this initiative. The Ministry aims for ethical and inclusive AI that promotes love, integrity, non-violence, fairness, and remains free from bias. Additionally, AI applications will focus on mutual understanding through dialogue and collective action.

The Ministry intends to use AI creatively to build tools serving its goals while protecting society from risks. This approach strengthens societal resilience in a rapidly changing world. Data analysis through AI will generate insights shared widely for positive action.

Collaborative Efforts for Social Growth

The Ministry plans collaborations with universities, civil society organisations, and tech companies to develop meaningful AI tools contributing to social growth. These efforts aim to energise platforms like the Global Tolerance Alliance for advocates of tolerance worldwide.

AI applications will function as digital companions offering guidance and encouraging constructive behaviour among youth. They aim to expand reach by enabling collaboration with partners inside and outside the UAE.

Sheikh Nahyan acknowledged both benefits and risks associated with AI use. He stated that while it offers opportunities for progress, it requires awareness and responsibility to manage challenges wisely.

The Ministry is committed to using AI as a force for peace while protecting shared human values. Sheikh Nahyan concluded that they strive to remain worthy of trust placed in them by enhancing institutional efficiency through AI for societal benefit.
