TII And NVIDIA Collaborate To Launch Middle East's First Joint Lab For AI And Robotics In Abu Dhabi
The Technology Innovation Institute (TII), part of Abu Dhabi's Advanced Technology Research Council, has partnered with NVIDIA to establish the Middle East's first Joint Lab focused on artificial intelligence and robotics. This collaboration aims to create a hub for developing advanced AI models and robotics platforms, fostering innovation across various sectors.
The TII-NVAITC (NVIDIA AI Technology Centre) Joint Lab was announced at a signing ceremony in Abu Dhabi. Key figures from both organisations attended, including Dr. Najwa Aaraj, CEO of TII, and Marc Domenech from NVIDIA. This event marks a significant milestone in the UAE's journey in AI and robotics.

This partnership positions Abu Dhabi as a leader in applied AI, aligning with its strategy to enhance technological sovereignty. It highlights the UAE's growing influence in AI and robotics globally, supported by initiatives like the US-UAE AI Acceleration Partnership. The country is becoming a key player in the evolving global robotics ecosystem.
Dr. Najwa Aaraj stated, "This collaboration with NVIDIA marks a major step toward building AI-enhanced robotic systems capable of reasoning, adapting, and acting in complex environments." The integration of advanced robotic platforms with powerful AI models aims to accelerate the development of intelligent machines.
The TII-NVAITC Joint Lab will combine NVIDIA's accelerated computing platforms with TII's research expertise in AI, robotics, autonomous systems, and high-performance computing. As the first NVAITC lab in the Middle East, it represents a significant achievement for the region.
The lab will focus on developing intelligent systems with practical applications by advancing Physical AI through embodied models and state-of-the-art robotics. Research areas include robotic learning at scale and integrating large language models like TII’s Falcon family.
Expanding Global Network
Carlo Ruiz from NVIDIA remarked on this expansion: "The launch of the TII-NVAITC for AI and Robotics marks a new chapter in our global NVAITC network." By collaborating with TII in Abu Dhabi, they are broadening their focus into robotics within the Middle East for the first time.
This initiative is part of TII’s strategy to advance applied AI and robotics that have real-world impact. It emphasises open innovation and global knowledge exchange through collaborations on research and open-source projects within the global NVAITC community.
TII’s existing modular robotic platforms will be enhanced through this partnership. These include components like robotic arms and delivery dogs, focusing on research grounded in technical excellence and practical readiness.
This collaboration between TII and NVIDIA signifies an important step towards advancing intelligent autonomous systems. It underscores Abu Dhabi’s commitment to being at the forefront of technological innovation while contributing significantly to global advancements in AI and robotics.
