Theyab Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Highlights UAE's Role At Global Rail 2025 Exhibition
H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes’ Affairs, and Chairman of Etihad Rail, attended Global Rail 2025. This major mobility and transport exhibition is hosted by Etihad Rail at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) until 2 October. The event is under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
During his visit on the second day, Sheikh Theyab was joined by Sara Awadh Musallam, Chairperson of the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge; Dr Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, Chairman of the Department of Community Development; and Shadi Malak, CEO of Etihad Rail. They explored various pavilions showcasing international companies like France's Alstom, China's CRRC Corporation Limited, Japan's Hitachi Rail, USA's Progress Rail, Germany's Siemens, and the Spanish-Egyptian joint venture Talgo/Hassan Allam.
Etihad Rail signed agreements with several key partners to enhance collaboration in the transport sector. These partners include the UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, Masdar, VIA and United Trans, and Yango. Such partnerships aim to foster innovation and cooperation within the industry.
Sheikh Theyab praised these initiatives for their role in advancing global transport through effective partnerships. He highlighted how Global Rail reflects the UAE’s position as a hub for international dialogue on mobility advancements.
On Day 2 of Global Rail 2025, H.H. presented awards to partners and sponsors who contributed significantly to the event's success. Recipients included Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO), Abu Dhabi Project and Infrastructure Centre (ADPIC), Abu Dhabi Transport, Alstom, DP World, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), Emirates NBD, First Abu Dhabi Bank, Hill International, International Union of Railways, Jacobs, and Khatib & Alami.
Youth Innovation at Global Rail
The Global Rail Youth Hackathon commenced as part of the event. This two-day competition challenges over 200 students and recent graduates to create innovative solutions for rail infrastructure in the UAE. Participants compete for cash prizes in an environment that encourages creativity alongside problem-solving skills.
Conference Insights
The Strategic and Technical Conference continued with discussions on various topics such as high-speed rail project delivery and sustainable financing. Other themes included intermodal operations, policy governance, interoperability network harmonisation, AI automation, and future city planning.
Under its theme "Driving the Future of Transport and Enhancing Global Connectivity," Global Rail 2025 serves as a platform for shaping mobility's future. It highlights Abu Dhabi’s role as a centre for sustainable smart transport while turning ambitious visions into reality.
