Theyab Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Leads Second Meeting Of International Humanitarian And Philanthropy Council To Discuss Foreign Aid Strategies

H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes’ Affairs and Chairman of the International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council (IHPC), led the second IHPC meeting. The gathering focused on the strategic direction of foreign aid, reviewing the 2024 Foreign Aid Report, and discussed programmes aimed at empowering professionals in the humanitarian sector.

The UAE's commitment to international humanitarian efforts remains strong, focusing on sustainable development solutions for global challenges. H.H. Sheikh Theyab highlighted the need for collaboration among local entities to implement diverse initiatives worldwide. This mission aligns with the UAE’s civilisational goals established by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and reinforced by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

H.H. Sheikh Theyab emphasised aligning UAE’s humanitarian programmes with national priorities and United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. Key areas include education, healthcare, disease eradication, poverty alleviation, water security, economic growth, environmental preservation, and biodiversity. The UAE's projects across continents showcase its leading role in global humanitarian efforts.

The meeting underscored institutionalising UAE’s generosity as a model in international aid while enhancing community dignity and prosperity. It highlighted leveraging resources and partnerships to support needy communities. The aim is to achieve sustainable humanitarian impact through innovation, integrating foreign aid programmes to create economic opportunities, and improving communication in humanitarian work.

The Humanitarian Foresight Programme was reviewed during the meeting. This initiative aims to empower leaders by enhancing their skills and knowledge in humanitarian fields aligned with national priorities. It strengthens capabilities of professionals in donor institutions to plan and implement various initiatives globally.

The council also supports the Master of Arts in Humanitarian and Development Work at Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy. This aligns with objectives to enhance competencies among personnel in relevant institutions like the UAE Aid Agency. The programme focuses on refining decision-making skills, multicultural team management, running humanitarian programmes, and understanding development studies within international relations context.

Attendees included Shamma bint Suhail Al Mazrouei, Minister of Community Empowerment; Faris Mohammed Al Mazrouei , Advisor at the Presidential Court; Dr. Hamdan Musallam Al Mazrouei, Chairman of Emirates Red Crescent; and Mohamed Saif Al Suwaidi, Director-General of Abu Dhabi Fund for Development.

The meeting affirmed UAE's ongoing approach to leverage resources for lasting impact while supporting communities in need globally. By working with partners, they aim to enhance innovation and sustainability in their efforts.
