Thai Investments In Dubai Surge To $626 Million Amid Strengthening Economic Relations

Direct investments from Thailand into Dubai have reached around $626 million over the last five years, according to Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah, President and CEO of Dubai Chambers. He anticipates further growth in these investments, driven by efforts to enhance economic ties between Dubai and Thailand. A new Dubai International Chamber office has recently opened in Bangkok to support this initiative.

The establishment of the Bangkok office is part of Dubai Chambers’ ‘New Horizons’ trade mission to Southeast Asia. This strategic move aims to boost the UAE business community's presence in Thailand and expand trade and investment opportunities with this vibrant economy. The office launch coincided with a trade mission involving 20 Emirati companies exploring Thailand’s market potential.

Lootah highlighted that Thailand is a key trading partner for Dubai within the ASEAN region. "Through this on-ground presence, we aim to deepen ties with the private sector and strengthen collaboration between the two sides," he stated. This initiative seeks to foster stronger connections and cooperation between businesses in both regions.

Non-oil trade between Dubai and Thailand has seen a notable rise, increasing by 23% to $6.5 billion in 2024 from about $5.3 billion in 2023. This growth underscores the strengthening economic relationship between the two regions and highlights the strategic importance of the Thai market for Dubai Chambers' global expansion plans.

The opening of the Bangkok office is part of a broader strategy by Dubai Chambers to establish 50 representative offices worldwide by 2030. This expansion aligns with Dubai’s objectives to broaden its foreign trade reach and solidify its status as a global hub for commerce and investment.

During the ‘Doing Business with Thailand’ forum on May 29th, Lootah reiterated Dubai Chambers' dedication to helping local companies access international markets. The chamber aims to facilitate strategic partnerships that align with Dubai’s economic vision, supporting sustainability and growth across key sectors.

The recent trade mission introduced Emirati companies to Thailand's investment landscape, aiming to enhance commercial ties and support UAE businesses' international expansion plans. This effort reflects Dubai Chambers' commitment to fostering global business connections and promoting economic collaboration.
