Technological Advancements Transforming Threat Detection For Large-Scale Events Discussed At Intersec 2025

The Intersec 2025 Security Leader’s Summit recently highlighted the future of global event security, focusing on balancing opportunities and risks. This gathering united security experts and industry leaders worldwide to discuss challenges and innovations in protecting major international events.

Event security covers various areas, such as venue protection, traffic management, client safety, logistics, cybersecurity, immigration control, and safeguarding airspace and maritime zones. These domains are crucial for ensuring the safety of large-scale gatherings.

Enhancing Threat Detection at Intersec 2025

Regina Dagueva, Chairman Advisor of the Safety & Security Operations Committee (SSOC) in Qatar, delivered a session titled "Securing Global Mega Events: Security Lessons Learnt." She emphasised how technological advancements are transforming physical security for major events. According to Dagueva, "In the next five years, security professionals will face significant opportunities and risks."

Dagueva further explained that evolving technologies will enhance threat detection and response capabilities. Advanced communication tools will also improve global collaboration and information sharing during events. Experience from past large-scale events will help cultivate a skilled market of security experts.

The SSOC is instrumental in planning and executing security operations for significant mass events. It played a key role in securing the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup. Additionally, Qatari Security Forces contributed to the security efforts for the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Dagueva noted that balancing opportunities and risks is crucial for future event security preparations. The complex global security landscape, including geopolitical issues, may require professionals to adapt swiftly to new challenges and threats.

Summit Highlights

The two-day Security Leader’s Summit featured high-level sessions and speakers focused on redefining security norms and strategies. While event security was a primary focus, discussions also covered inclusive community security, securing supply chains, post-conflict reconstruction, and AI's implications in global security.

Grant Tuchten, Portfolio Director at Intersec organiser Messe Frankfurt Middle East, stated: "Intersec is a vital catalyst for collaboration, innovation, and progress in the global security industry." He added that the summit brings together influential voices to address critical challenges and explore actionable strategies shaping the industry's future.

Intersec 2025 continues until Thursday, 16 January at the Dubai World Trade Centre. The event serves as a platform for discussing essential topics related to global event security.
