Tawazun Council Implements Quality Mark To Enhance Military And Security Standards In The UAE

The Executive Committee of the Tawazun Council has introduced resolutions to regulate licensing, accreditation, and conformity certification in the UAE's defense and security sectors. These resolutions aim to maintain high standards by adopting best practices and ensuring global compliance. The council's efforts are focused on fostering a supportive regulatory environment for the growth of these industries.

Resolution No. (14) of 2024 introduces the "Quality Mark for the Military and Security Sector." This resolution outlines the design and usage rules for licensing marks on defense products, factories, and companies. The Secretary General is tasked with issuing necessary provisions for implementing this quality mark.

Tawazun Council Launches Quality Mark Initiative

Resolution No. (15) of 2024 addresses the regulation of centres evaluating military and security products. It mandates all centres in the UAE, including those in free zones, to register with Tawazun Council. Applications must be submitted to relevant authorities for licensing evaluation activities, which are then reviewed by Tawazun Council.

This resolution also details procedures for issuing accreditation certificates, their duration, renewal processes, and conditions for conducting licensed activities post-accreditation. Centres must align with these provisions within a year from when they take effect.

Resolution No. (16) of 2024 requires a conformity certificate or permit for any military or security product dealings. Importing, exporting, manufacturing, displaying, selling, or storing such products without certification is prohibited unless they meet legislative requirements.

Tawazun Council or accredited centres will evaluate product conformity and issue certificates if standards are met. The Secretary General will approve standard specifications for these products.

The council or authorized entities will monitor market products to ensure compliance with approved standards. Suppliers must reconcile their product status within a year by submitting evaluation requests to licensed centres.

The Executive Committee's resolutions enhance product reliability and competitiveness while supporting sustainable development in the UAE's defense sector. These measures strengthen the national economy and reinforce the UAE's global leadership position in defense industries.
